Man of Great Achievements
Dr. Asafo-Agyei Anane-Frempong, a proprietor and medical officer is a man known all over the Kumasi metropolis and beyond for his exploits in the medical field with the establishment of the Asafo-Agyei Hospital at Daban in Kumasi.
A proud recipient of the International man of the year (1991/92) and International Man of Achievement for 1993/4 awards conferred on him by the International Biographical Center (IBC) of Cambridge, U.K. Dr. Asafo-Agyei was born in March 1944 at Bekwai in
Ashanti. His greatness and quality of discipline stem from his school days at Agogo Presbyterian Primary School and Bantama Primary School between 1951 and 1956.
Having passed through the Adum Presby Middle School between 1956 and 1959 he continued at the Presby Secondary School at Krobo Odumasi(now PRESEC-Legon).
Dr.Asafo-Agyei pursued his sixth form education at Prempeh College between 1964 and 1966 before he went to Medical school at the University of Ghana to learn how to use the Stethoscope. He earned MB Ch.B. degree in 1972 to become a medical Doctor. In 1991 he became the first Ghanaian to qualify as an expert in the non-surgical (scientific) treatment of piles specifically in the use of the ring haemorrhoidectomy method.
His lifelong ambition to become a successful medical practitioner got a push when he made further academic exploites by sitting and passing the Educational Council for Foreign Medical graduates (ECFMG) examination to crown him as an accomplished member of the noble profession.
Dr.Asafo-Agyei practiced medicine during his horsemanship at Korle-Bu and Komfo-Anokye Teaching Hospital before he launched into private practice with one Dr.O.T Agyemang in 1978. After practicing for some years he decided to go alone and consequently gave birth to Asafo-Agyei Hospital in November 1980 which place literally has come to be translated as “a place of service” and passes for all descriptions because of the “spacious and clean premises”, “a therapeutic environment”, “a serene place” and “every patient’s delight”.Earlier in May 2000 the IBC had selected Dr.Asafo-Agyei for an outstanding scientific award in Cambridge for his contribution to the book – 2000 outstanding scientists of the 20 th century, which serves as a source of reference for university libraries around the world.
He was among 200 award winners from around the globe and was the leader of the African group at the said award ceremony in Cambridge. He received medals and certificates, which were presented to the occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace .
The Australian-Asian Institute of Civil Leadership (AAICL) which seeks to encourage excellence in various fields has invited Ghana‘s Rev.Dr.Asafo Agyei to become an honorary fellow of the Institute.
Rev.Dr.Asafo-Agyei having accepted the offer has been awarded a diploma of Honorary(HonFAAICL) and made an Honorary Distinguished Professor which qualifies him to employ HonFAAICL to his name-thus Rev.Prof.Dr.Anane Frempong Asafo Agyei, HonFAAICL.
Prof.Robert J.Nixon,JP Chairman of AAICL said in a correspondence dated April 10, 2006 that the offer is the formal and exclusive recognition of illustrious and exemplary achievements of Dr.Asafo-Agyei in the field of leadership as well as outstanding and internationally acclaimed contributions in the field of medicine.
AAICL seeks to promote and recognize excellence in leadership in society. Prominent members of AAICL in Africa include the President of the Gambia, the Governor of Sokoto State in Nigeria as well as paramount Chiefs and academics and business leaders.
In December 205, Nicholas S.Law, the Director-General of International Biographical Centre(IBC) of Cambridge in England announced the appointment of Rev.Dr.Asafo Agyei as the IBC’s Director-General for Africa.
The International Biographical Center (IBC) appointed Dr.Asafo Agyei as Deputy Director-General of the center for his great achievements particularly for his accomplishments and was inVancouver, Canada to personally receive the appointment.
Rev.Dr.Asafo Agyei was at the Inaugural World Forum at Oxford University from July 4-9 where he represented Ghana and received the Medicine and Healthcare Award for 2006 as his prize for the new American Ambassador (OAA) for which honor he also received an Order Medal and Edict of Inauguration at the closing Unitary session of the five day Inaugural World Forum at Oxford University. Rev Dr. Asafo Agyei has just returned to Ghana after World Forum with two awards- Medicine and Healthcare Award 2006 and OAA besides an honorary fellowship of the AAICL.The occasion also marked the 40th anniversary of IBC which has about 100,000 members from 163 countries around the globe. Earlier in March this year, the American Biographical Institute(ABI) of North Carolina, USA nominated Rev. Dr.Asafo-Agyei as a Sovereign Ambassador.
Rev.Dr.Asafo Agyei’s association with the IBC dates back to 1991-2 when the International Man of the year Award was conferred on him by the IBC for his medical exploits.He established the Asafo-Agyei Hospital in kumasi in 1980 and started the scientific treatment of piles in 1991 after he had trained at the Piles Specialist Training Center in Gujarat in India .His achievements transcend other areas besides the medical field. He is “an anointed man of God” having been ordained together with his wife at the Oasis of Love Church in Kumasi on February 25, 2001 for which he is now leading a flock.
He is the founder and leader of the Great Eternal Harvest International Ministry (GETHIM) and now Shepherds a flock of about .. Of the Great Eternal Harvest International Ministry (GETHIM) which he founded in 2003 in Kumasi as the General Overseer.
Rev.Dr.Asafo Agyei has actually paid his dues in the medical field. He was the Chairman of the Ashanti branch of the Ghana Medical Association and a member of the Ghana Medical and Dental Council, Society of Private and Dental Practitioners. He was the leader of the medical team at the Body and Soul Crusade Held in Kumasi.
Rev. Dr.Asafo-Agyei represented Ghana at the World Medical Assembly in Dublin in 1977. He has traveled far and wide to the U.K, the USA, Canada, Zambia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, India, South Africa, Mauritius, Congo Brazzaville and Ethiopia.
Rev.Dr.Asafo Agyei, 71, is married to Rev.Diana Asafo-Agyei, a nursing officer with whom he has six beautiful girls- Nana Ama, Nana Adwoa, Nana Yaa, Peggy, Safoaa and Asantewa
